Allard Secures Over $7.7 million for
Colorado Environmental Projects in Interior Appropriations Bill
$300 Million Included for Emergency
Wildfire Prevention in Colorado
Washington, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Wayne Allard
(R-Colo.), the leading Republican on the Senate Interior
Appropriations committee, announced today that he has secured
$7,785,400 in funding for Colorado as a part of the 2008 Interior
Appropriations Bill. The bill also includes $300 million for
wildfire prevention efforts in Colorado and $229 million in funding
for the Payments-in-Lieu-of-Taxes (PILT) program. |

DENVER— The United States Department
of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board
awarded two University of Denver faculty members Fulbright Scholar
grants for the 2007-2008 academic year. Fulbright recipients are
selected on the basis of academic or professional achievement, as
well as demonstrated leadership potential in their fields.
Assistant Professor, Bonnie Adrian,
Department of Anthropology
Bonnie Adrian, assistant professor of
anthropology, was awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to conduct
research at the Chung Hwa Institute of Buddhist Studies in Taipei,
Taiwan from April to Sept. 2008. Adrian’s work will examine
the interface of Chan (Chinese Zen) Buddhism with the problems of
modern family life in Taiwan. Adrian earned her Ph.D. in
sociocultural anthropology from Yale University in 1999. |
